Cordless pleated blinds

What type of cordless blinds are best?

Cord-free blinds are ideal for those who want a neat and tidy finish. Homes with young children or pets often opt for cordless window coverings to avoid any accidental damage occurring through rough play or curiosity. Some blinds are cordless by design, others have the option to upgrade to a tensioned or spring loaded system.

What does “cordless” actually mean?

When we refer to a blind being cordless, we generally mean that it has no control cords. The blind may still have cords within it, but they are hidden or out of reach and not dangling in reach of tiny hands or paws! The choice to opt for one of these blinds is usually either because of safety concerns or the visual appearance of the blinds.

Which options do I have with cordless blinds?

There are a few different options in this category, with more appearing as designs develop and motorisation becomes more popular. Here we have outlined the most popular options for sleek, cord free window coverings.

Roller blinds – Motorised & spring loaded

Motorised roller blinds are one of our most popular chainless window shade. The single piece of fabric creates simplicity and ease of use. With a handy remote, your tidy blind will open and close with no messy cords hanging down. Multiple blinds can be added to the same remote, and controlled simultaneously or separately.

Spring loaded roller blinds are a cheaper alternative to motorised. Operated by hand, pulling gently on the bottom bar of the roller which then slowly rises back onto the roll, or to your desired position. This option does need more care when operating, so we wouldn’t recommend this to high traffic windows where numerous people will be operating the blinds such as schools or student accommodation.

Shutters

By nature, shutters work without any cords or chains. This means they are a great option for those with child safety concerns. Available in pvc and hardwood, this modern window covering is proving a popular choice for home owners. We also now offer a motorised shutter, perfect for larger sets of shutters or those difficult to reach.

Perfect Fit – also drill free blinds

Ideal for patio doors and bifold doors, perfect fit blinds have gained popularity over the past 5 years due to their neat and tidy finish. Operated by a bottom bar and available as venetian, pleated and roller, this no-drill solution is a firm favourite. Simply raise and lower the bottom bar as desired.

Pleated – tensioned, spring loaded and top down bottom up

Offering soft light diffusion and a neat stack when closed, pleated blinds are a softer alternative to roller blinds. The tensioned system is fixed with almost invisible cords at either side of your window, from top to bottom. This system also allows our handy top down bottom up mechanism.

Spring loaded pleated blinds are slightly different, similar to a spring loaded roller, they are only fixed at the top. The user controls the blind by gently lifting the bottom bar up and down to the desired height.

Hopefully you are now armed with more info about cordless blind options, and can make a decision based on your requirements. For further advice, we recommend booking a free home consultation with one of our friendly, local reps.
